Start a ConversationWhy "The Dapper Adviser"
Before commercial real estate, I spent nearly a decade in corporate sales leadership, then built a business of my own from the ground up — one where the entire value proposition was precise fit, honest counsel, and standing behind the details. That's where the name comes from. "Adviser," spelled with an E-R, is deliberate: this is an advisory practice, not a transactional one.
Today I bring that standard to space. As an adviser at T. Dallas Smith & Company — the largest African American-owned commercial real estate firm in the country — I represent retailers, restaurateurs, and business owners in tenant representation and retail leasing, and buyers and sellers in retail investment sales, with a deep focus on Cobb County.
Having signed leases as a business owner myself — and having lived with the consequences — I negotiate like the rent is coming out of my own P&L. Because I know exactly what it feels like when it is.
A negotiator before a broker
Real estate was a second career, and the first one was built entirely on negotiating deals and managing relationships at scale. That's not incidental to this work — it is this work.
- Eight years of enterprise contract negotiation. At R.R. Donnelley I closed complex, multi-year agreements — including a large multi-year public sector contract — and learned how to sequence asks so the important ones get answered.
- Sales leadership. Promoted from account representative to assistant regional sales manager, co-managing a nine-person Georgia team and exceeding regional quota three consecutive years. Selected for a leadership program that took 90 people out of 55,000.
- Operator's perspective. I've founded and run businesses — taking a product from idea to production, and building a company to a team of eight. I've sat in the seat my clients sit in.
- Formal training in negotiation and strategy. MBA in Marketing and Strategic Management, plus international negotiations coursework at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
I also speak conversational Spanish — useful more often than you'd expect in Atlanta retail, where many of the best operators are running their business in it.

Service & community
I've spent most of my adult life on a board of some kind. Currently I co-chair the Accelerator Social Committee for Entrepreneurs' Organization. Previously I served as Treasurer of the North Carolina A&T National Alumni Association, representing more than 55,000 alumni, and before that as Treasurer of its Atlanta chapter and of the Auditory Verbal Center. I also spent four years as a skilled supervisor with Habitat for Humanity.
It's the same instinct that drew me to advisory work: the useful version of this job is the one where somebody else ends up better off.
